Don't over think things: it's great to think about things, but you don't want to over-think, like Chris does. Chris is over-thinking his life and exsistance to the point where he can't even figure it out. As Charlie said, "seemed like a kid who was looking for something, looking for something, just didn't know what it was."

Fiction is fake: Chris was extremely into classic authors, especially, Jack London. He read and re-read books like, "Call of the Wild." He was so enthralled by these stories, that he forgot they were constructions of the imagination, and thought they were actualities of life. This fiction really inspired him, but it was dangerous, leading him to death.

Hitchhiking is dangerous: Chris got caught by the police, and was given a ticket for hitchhiking. You never know what kind of person is going to pick you up.
